Education is meant to make the life of a person. It enlightens the human being and makes him understand the real value of everything. But the blessing has become a curse now as the education mostly contributes to the mental pressure of students.
Reading and listening to the cases of student suicides has become so common these days. The volume of such cases has come to a level that it can’t be ignored considering the fault of a student.
The recent incident has happened in Mohali and the victim was a student of XII. 17-year-old Karanbir was a brilliant student and had scored 90% marks in the pre-board examination. The pressure on his mind was at the level that when he failed to attempt 3 questions of 3 marks in the board exam of Physics, he couldn’t bear it. Karanvir went on to take the extreme step and hanged himself to death at such a small age.
As per TOI, Karanbir was the student of Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36 Chandigarh and was the only child of his parents.
As per Hindustan Times, Karanbir wrote in his suicide note-
“I am sorry as I could not live up to your expectations and for not being able to fulfil your dreams. I love my grandparents the most and please do take good care of them.”
Talking to HT, Karanbir’s father said-
“On our way back from the examination centre, I asked Karan about his performance. When he said he left some questions, I told him that he should practise writing faster.”
His father added-
“I wish I had told him that marks don’t matter to us. The only thing that mattered was seeing his smiling face every morning.”
Reportedly, this is the second death in the Tricity after the start of board exams. A Class X girl in Mullanpur did not want to continue with her studies so she went ahead and consumed poison.
