The third season of Crown has finally found its Prince Charles and Queen Mother. Actor Josh O’Connor will play the younger version of the British royal heir while Marion Bailey will replace Victoria Hamilton in the role of Queen Mother.

An excited O’Connor expressed his happiness in joining the team. “I am thrilled to be joining the firm for the next instalment of The Crown. Season three and four will follow some of the most turbulent events in the Prince of Wales’s life and our national story and I’m excited to be bringing to life the man in the midst of it all. I’m very aware it’s a formidably talented family to be joining, but reliably informed I have the ears for the part and will fit right in,” the actor said in a statement.

Marion Bailey also shared her joy in joining the cast list. “Wonderful to be joining The Crown. It’s a brilliant show and we have a tough act to follow but what a gift to be playing the fascinating and greatly loved Queen Mother. Thrilled to be on board and working with such a top-notch team,” she released a statement via Twitter.

One of the key highlights of the season will be the turbulent relationship of Princess Margaret and husband Antony Armstrong-Jones. The couple was officially separated in 1978, the first divorce of a senior royal member since Princess Victoria of Edinburgh’s in 1901.

Netflix has earlier confirmed that Erin Doherty will play Princess Anne. The third edition of The Crown will have an all-new cast. Olivia Colman will replace Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II while Tobias Menzies will appear as Prince Philip (originally done by Matt Smith). Helena Bonham Carter will take over Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby, Ben Daniels will replace Matthew Goode as Antony Armstrong-Jones and Jason Watkins will appear as Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

The Crown season 3 will premiere on Netflix in 2019.
